When most people think “packaging,” they’re unwrapping a gift or finding the right size mailer at their local Post Office. But for members of the National Wooden Pallet & Container Association (NWPCA), “packaging” means economical, sustainable solutions for shipping, warehouse storage, containment, and more.
The NWPCA is the largest organization of wood packaging professionals in the world, with more than 670 company members in 28 countries who manufacture, repair and distribute pallets and wood packaging in unit-load solutions, or who supply products and services to the industry.
Dominick Davi, President of Greenway Products & Services, Paul Davi, and Molly Gordon are attending the NWPCA Fall Plant Tours in Monterey, CA to share industry trends and updates among the nations’ leading pallet companies.
Touring other company’s facilities is also a chance to view alternative warehouse and yard layouts and see how different companies implement delivery and pickup procedures. Company recycling programs are also of interest.
An important part of Greenway Products & Services is recycling—the company recycles cardboard, plastic, shrink wrap, paper, metal, and wood. Attending the NWPCA Fall Plant Tours will give Dominick, Paul and Molly an opportunity to hear first-hand how the NWPCA is helping to address environmental challenges.
At Greenway Products & Services, Dominic says, “It’s our goal to keep as much wood as possible out of the waste stream.” The company recycles wood waste – scrap and discarded pallets, shipping crates and scrap lumber. Some of the products Greenway manufactures from wood waste include mulch, boiler fuel, wood chips, animal bedding and sawdust.
The Greenway team is excited about their tour of California facilities and grateful for the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with colleagues in the wood pallet and recycling industry.
