Lately the pallet industry has been having a pallet shortage for many different reasons. One of the main reasons is that the economy is which will affect the pallet manufacture. Also, more 48 x 40 standard pallets are being shipped overseas.
Pallet boards that make up the pallet, come from the inside of the tree while the outside of the tree is generally used for furniture. If the lumber for the outside of tree doesn’t sell as well then this will affect the pallet lumber as well.
Another reason for pallet shortage is that customers are trying to save money buying pallets that are used and recycled instead of new pallet because they roughly can handle the same weight. This allows less pallet makers to create new pallets.
